News this week...
Thank you for such a great showing at the Chuck E. Cheese event! It is so much fun to see the LOE community come together and have fun while supporting our school!
Running club continues every Wednesday. I enjoyed walking with the runners this week!
The first quarter comes to a close next week. I will be sending out a sign-up genius the following week for those who would like to schedule a parent conference. These can be done in our classroom or via phone call. Conferences are totally optional so if you do not see the need to have one at this time, you can contact me any time throughout the year if you decide you would like to meet.
The Sunshine State Reader list has been updated at LOE to include some shorter chapter books from the younger reading list. These can be included for students to complete 15 books by the end of the school year. Your child will be keeping track of the books using their data binder in class as well as our sticker chart.
Reminders...
Our last T-shirt Tuesday will be on Tuesday, October 7th.
Accelerated Reader tests can be taken at home! If you are reading a book with your child, please feel free to work together on the A.R. quiz to give support if needed, especially when completing tests on long chapter books like the Sunshine State books. Students are encouraged to look back in book to answer questions - this is an important skill to practice for reading comprehension growth.
Reading: Identify text structures and central ideas, explain how details support the idea, explain the development of an author's purpose, and how text features contribute to the meaning of informational text. Compare and contrast how two authors present information on the same topic or theme and summarize a text to enhance comprehension across genres. Identify and determine the meaning of unknown words and use academic vocabulary in speaking and writing.
Writing: Write expository texts about a topic, using one or more sources, providing an introduction, facts and details, some elaboration, transitions, and a conclusion.
Math: Multiply and divide with 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 with procedural reliability.
Science: Identify some forms of energy.
Social Studies: Explain how the United States Constitution establishes the purpose and fulfills the need for government.
Leader in Me: I can apply a growth mindset to persevere through a challenging situation.
